BLT Burger

Evitebltburger3_04BLT Burger, another restaurant in the slowly growing empire from Laurent Tourondel, just opened this past week on 6th avenue between 11/12th.  They actually opened in a location that has been one bad restaurant after another.  I was beginning to think that the space was jinxed but like Otto broke the spell at 1 Fifth, I believe BLT Burger has probably broken the spell here too.

No reservations, keep that in mind.  We went on Friday evening around 6 and already had to wait about 20 minutes for a table.  They are not’t quite organized yet but that is to be expected.  Also, the place is really small.  So, it will be interesting to see how that plays out.  Not a lot of space for waiting.

The menu is simple and inexpensive compared to the other BLT restaurants.  Classic burgers, Kobi beef burgers, tuna burger, lamb burger etc.  There are also some salads and of course sides.

We all went for the classic burger some with cheese, some without.  Excellent burger.  Not too big and not too small.  Cooked just like we ordered and very tasty.  On the side we had some onion rings.  Big and not too doughy but I would have liked to see them a bit more crispy.  Also tried the chopped feta salad.  It tasted very similar to the salad we had at BLT Steak.  It is good side.  We also had the buffalo chicken wings to try.  They were excellent.  Big, crispy and spicy with a little blue cheese for dipping.

Perfect for a simple dinner in the neighborhood when you are craving a burger.  Unfortunately, it won’t be so easy just to stroll in any night of the week. It will certainly interesting to see how the success of that space will affect the rest of the neighborhood.  Then of course if you are still craving that burger and the wait is too long, you can always pop into Joe Juniors right on the corner.  A classic village institution.  Good burger and the best split pea soup in town.
