Change of seasons

Image003
Although I am not head over heels when the weather gets really cold, there is something to be said for the change of seasons.  I enjoy each season for what it has to offer.  It is so beautiful when the leaves change.  You really don't get to fully take that in when you live in downtown NYC.  We are getting out of the city this weekend and I do hope that the leaves are still hanging on in a myriad of colors.

This picture comes from a reader, and mother of a friend of ours, from her ranch in Northern Texas.  She is an artist.  The photo appeared in my email box yesterday and it was perfect timing as yesterday was starting to really feel like autumn.

i grew up in new england then school in phila and nyc and i didnt realize how much seasons changing meant to me until i moved to l.a.l.a. is a fantastic town etc etc but the weather is relentlessly the same. ditto the seasons. that sense of standing still is disorienting, sometimes even depressing. every day has stages and movements. life has stages and seasons. etc. so seasons changing feels… natural

when you get to be my age you hate the fall season because winter comes too soon and it is dark at 4:34 pm today. Plus all those leaves and so many gardeners’ machine blowing them into tarps. Can’t stand the noise starting at 7am.

I get it. Cold weather is not as appealing as time goes on. I guess that’swhy god made Florida and Southern California.
