Artichoke Pizza

Believe it or not I have not been to Artichoke Pizza – Basille's Pizza.  There are three of them.  One is in the East Village, one in Chelsea and the other in the Village.

I finally went.  Why now?  The last few weeks have been so stressful that I am basically in the mode of whatever.  I realize there are lots of food pics and eating festivities on this blog but truthfully I do watch what I pop into my mouth but right now I am not that into caring.  So when we decided to meet for lunch at Artichoke Pizza, I thought game on.

Salad
Delicious.  I love that they serve the salad in a paper pizza box.

Artichoke pizza
Artichoke pizza.  Artichoke hearts, spinach, cream sauce, mozzarella and pecorino cheese.  Seriously decadent….and delicious.

Pziza
Margherita pizza is just the classic.  Really good tomato sauce and crispy crust. You can order 1/3 of a pizza which we should have done with both.

You know what I really enjoyed.  Checking into FourSquare and getting a soda for free!

I find the one on 14th in the EV to be the best. It matters who throws a pie and they throw better ones over there. And ironically their artichoke pizza is their worst. Way too creamy for me. I’m old school though. If you like pizza (it’s my favorite by far) you have to get to Di Fara in Brooklyn. The mecca. Dom is a Master. No lie.

Have to agree, the artichoke pizza is interesting, but not really pizza in my book.  Di Fara is a place I have been going to since a little boy growing up on Flatbush.  It was easily the best back then, and it is still the king today.

New trends I see in pizza toppings………gherkin pickles, port, grapes, almonds and apricots
