Casa de las Americas

The second evening we went to Casa de las Americas to visit and hear from Pepe Mendez a graphic artist and Alberto Faya musician/singer.

Casa de las Americas is a center for art.

It was hard to take a photo of anything in there because of the reflection of the glass. This particular one I got that hangs in the front hallway of Che playing golf.

Soccerstadium from the top casa de americas
This is a view of a huge soccer stadium which is completely falling apart.

Chicken
Afterwards we went to El Aljibe. There were some students there from Brown and Bowdoin that were doing a semester abroad in Cuba. They joined us for dinner and it was interesting to listen to them speak about their travels and experience.  This restauarant is referred to as the chicken restaurant.  Interesting enough is that all the chicken is imported.  There is not one chicken farm in all of Cuba.

Tourists
Avoid this place.  Totally touristy.  All the buses in town went there for dinner that night.  Keep in mind that many of the restaurants tend to be more touristy as Cubans really can not afford to go out so the nicer restaurants are geared towards visitors vs local corner spots that have cropped up over the last few years.
