2 Guys, 1 Grill

2guys1grillIf you ever find yourself up the area of Wallingford, CT stop by 2 Guys 1 Grill.  We were up in Middletown for graduation weekend and found ourselves solo one evening.  There is one restaurant in town called Mondo that is really good.  There is nothing else in Middletown so we took a short trip over to 2 Guys, 1 Grill.   There is nothing like a local shack.

inside2guysThis is the inside of the shack.  Super tiny.  Best for the good weather so you can eat outside at the picnic tables like we did.

clockThe clock inside gives you an idea of the menu.  Burgers and dogs.

burgersWe went for the burgers, sweet potato fries and onion rings.  All of this and two drinks for $22.

It would be a fun trip to drive around the country and eat all of these eating shacks.

I look at this. I walk by Shake Shack.I begin to understand how brilliant a businessman he is by understanding in simplicity what people want.It a burger, nothing more. Nothing less.A life essential.

Love those kinda places! My partner and I drove the southern route from LA to NYC in search of the best ribs in America. So much fun! (But also so fattening! I had to be rolled out of the car by the time we made it home! 😉

I went to a shack in New Orleans called Frady’s in Bywater that I will literally never forget. Easily some of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had. And the chef (2nd generation owner who still lives across the street) even gave me a jug of his secret spice blend and taught me a couple things over the 4 days I practically lived in there, including:”If it doesn’t taste right, add butter. If it still doesn’t taste right, add more butter. And God forbid you burn it — add all the butter!”

My ex’s mom was from Louisiana. I forget what her four food groups were, but two of them were bourbon and butter.

        That’s hilarious and so southern.

New Orleans is the best restaurant town in America. I am down there Jun 10-13. Commander’s one night, and some out of the way places the rest of the time. Went to a BBQ shack in the Bywater last time I was there. It was pretty darn good.

time for a repeat trip. Cochon, Dookey Chases, Luke…..I’d be 800 lbs if I lived there. Once I was at a New Orleans Botanical Society benefit, I had one shrimp. It was perfect. The best shrimp I ever had. At a catered event.

Was that a steamed hamburger you ordered? Somewhat of a regional thing in that part of CT. I can’t bring myself to eating one of those.
