WeFestival #6

WeFestivalNYC DetailsWeFestival is now entering its 6th year.

After 5 years I was ready to call it quits for a variety of reasons but it was really Fred who told me that I could not give up WeFestival.  It was a night of many margaritas that my sister participated in when Fred made that statement.  It was my sister who piped up and said “I would do it with you.”

Fast forward we are in our 6th year and it is going to be the best ever.  I am so excited.  The event will take place on the evening of April 13 and the day of April 14th.  The day will be held at 1 World Trade Center.  Rachael Ray is our keynote. We have amazing partnerships with Amex, She Media, Google, Accenture, Deloitte, WeWorks, GE, LinkedIn and more to come.

We have spent a lot of time pouring over the past 5 years on how to make this event better than ever.  It has been fun building this business.  We have to build out the space, sell the sponsorships, think about the media roll-out and all the other things that people have to think about when building an event business.  We would be the perfect people to attend our own event.

Big fan of this.Cool thing is that you are beyond the pale of supply and demand as you have both. It’s a matter of understanding the core impulse that makes this event special. You got that already!

Creating the scarcity around attendance is a great idea for having the quality and diversity you want.

Real world event are scarcity marketing by definition. How that relates to diversity is counter intuitive to me.

I’m assuming that the organizers can opt and select for quality and diversity of attendees that apply, in order to achieve the mix they want.

Hmm…Selecting the audience is always a bandaid we use early stage. Content should drive that diversity ideally.

it is the way to get the best audience and read all the applications at once. like college.

          1. William Mougayar

Yup. That’s what I thought you’d be doing. Curious if you will be using any special tools on the back end to streamline this process, given that it’s a team effort. This remjnds me of what accelerators go through and they have honed in that process.

You do what they do ( at least that is what Techstars does ) you read them all.

Kudos on this new piece of the journey, Joanne. It is one of my favorite events of the year.

I would be happy to volunteer to help with logistics and operations (I do policies / process / operations). Let me know who to reach out to if I can help.
