Sunny California

My brother and his family moved out to Sunny California a year ago.  I am thrilled that he has chosen to live out there because from my perspective, it is a great place to visit but I wouldn’t want to live there.

Dsc00177 The first day, Josh went to school, as show and tell, to his cousin’s pre-school.  It was adorable.  She was in heaven.

Dsc00181 The rest of us made our way over to Fred Segal for some serious shopping.  LA is fantastic for finding summer and spring clothes since that is the weather there year round.  Not only did we had fun, we had quite the success.  Here is Emily and Jessica with my niece.  Dsc00185_1

My sister-in-law, who is the maven on where to eat and shop, took us to a great little place for lunch called The Counter.  Good food and very clever concept.  You place your order at the counter.  It is basically a burger joint but the options are all over the place.  You can order different sizes of burgers including a veggie or tuna burger.  You can choose different cheeses, different extras such as red peppers, sauteed onions, mushrooms, sprouts, etc. and then different dressings from honey mustard to soy ginger.  You can also have your burger on different breads or even just on a salad.  Not only can you eat a burger, but you can have a healthy low-cal meal by having it all on a salad.  There are drinks, fries (sweet potato and regular) as sides.  The burgers are made to order so if you want it rare, it will come as rare as you want it.  I loved the place.  It is very Californian.  I’d love a place like this to open in NYC.   Dsc00187 Maybe my next venture?

Josh and my niece were so happy to see each other, and they were loving The Counter.
