Cindy Sheehan
Could Cindy Sheehan be the one that opens up a can of worms for the Bush Administration? If you don’t know who Cindy Sheehan is, read the article on her in the New York Times today. My heart not only goes out to her but I applaud her effort in trying to do something over the loss of her son.
Cindy Sheehan lost her kid in Iraq. He was 24 years old. She has decided to react. She has been very outspoken in her opposition to the war. She says it is time to bring our troops home. She also decided to go take a drive over to Bush’s place in Texas to speak to him about it. Needless to say, she was stopped at the gate but has refused to leave until she speaks with the President.
She had spoken to the President before. This is what I find interesting. Where the press has refused to push or ask anything of this Administration, she has. The ongoings of this Administration is kept so sealed up you would think they were launching a new product that must be completely secretive until the launch. Perhaps they are. What do you think their product could be? It is frustrating and the press has done nothing to push and prod and find out. Cindy has given them something that could be for an interesting investigation.
She was one of the few families that President Bush met with so he could show some face time and grieve with the families who lost their loved ones in Iraq. She said at their meeting not only did Bush not know the name of her son when they met with him, he acted like he was at a party and was disrespectful to her. He didn’t even know it was her son that was killed but mentioned how hard it must be to lose an aunt, uncle or cousin. Cindy mentioned how he would feel if he lost his daughters and put him in his place which was fine with him. As I read about how she described the meeting, my mouth dropped. Is Bush that callous?
So, the question I’d like to have answered is what else has Bush done in these one on one meeting with families across the country. Is he so full of himself and insincere after sending these kids to Iraq to fight a war over oil (yes, oil not terrorism) that he acts as if it is no big deal. What does his pal Karl Rove say about this?
Come on press. Lets get some action on this. Let’s get to the bottom of Karl Rove’s latest attempt to manipulate the press, Bush’s meeting with other families, falsifying documents on why we needed to go to war, and other scandalous things that have gone on in the White House. Open up the secrets to the public. They impeached Bill Clinton because he lied to the country about sex with an Intern. Who really cared? That certainly didn’t hurt our economy or our military.
Congratulations to Cindy Sheehan. Although she didn’t set out to start these conversations going. She has and thank god someone finally has opened a few cans around here.
