Irving Penn

 
 Irving Penn who had inspired to be a painter ended up moving into photography because of a job at Vogue when he was 26.  Lucky for us.  His influence on photography has been not only felt and seen through the fashion industry but all portrait photographers.  The simplicity of his photography captured each person and moment.  Even if the picture was of an object, the light, the look created the feeling of a portrait.  I love that his wife was not only a model for him but a true partner in their life together as artists.  An American original.
