Other As Animal

I have been very remiss in the art world.  Haven't been in a gallery or a museum in way too long. This summer I will be doing some traveling and plan on spending time in galleries and museums. I'm also making a commitment to myself to spend two days a month, starting this autumn, doing art outings.

Last night I went to an opening at the Danese Gallery.  A multiple artist show with them theme being animals, the name being Other As Animal.  April Gornick, who is an artist and passionate about animal rights, curated the show.  The first show she has curated.  An interesting mix of artists all connected to her.

All of the pieces were good because the talent pool is impressive.  The high light was the piece of the matador and the bull by Eric Fischl (Aprils husband) and Ross Bleckner's piece of birds which reminded me of Eric Freeman who is very close with Ross.   Always interesting to see how spending time with another person affects each others creativity.

More than anything, it was great to be in a gallery just looking at art.
