Gotham Gym
I have seen many deals that are not for me but never say never to anything.
Over the past few years I have been working out with Rob Piela. Great guy. I have been hearing about his frustrations as he watched his workplace go from a place that he loved being at every day to a place that he really didn't enjoy. He was responsible for the staff but between corporate bankruptcies and new owners in a completely different location of the country, it just wasn't the same.
His dream was to open up his own place. One day I asked him if he had a business plan. He wrote one and for everyone who has ever written a business plan that is a lesson in itself. And so I became the sole investor of Gotham Gym.
Watching Rob go through the past year of growing his business, building out the gym and then seeing the doors open has been rewarding for me too. He has learned a lot and everyday when he opens the door, he is living his dream. It certainly hasn't been easy because like all new business owners, what you think will happen doesn't and what you don't think will happen does. It is a learning experience.
So, if you are in the neighborhood, come on by and join Gotham Gym. A great group of people trying to create a community in the West Village and a reason to come and sweat.

Definitely an ode to the gotham gal. Hopefully more gotham goodies goingforward
you are a good ad for the gym and the trainer. With all those delicious food recipes and rest. dinners, I would weigh 200 pounds.
For sure
let me know when your ready to start the Gotham Film Company (‘GFC’ for short)…got a great script and I promise you’ll eat well through all phases of production. -r
that would be called kickstarter
always happy to read something if you want to send it my way.
This is brilliant, definitely on my list for the next trip to NYC. I look forward to the next Gotham brand venture. Congratulation to you both!
Gotham Ganja – in order to capitalize on the commercial opportunities that will arise from the trend towards legalizing marijuana?
that would be quite hilarious but sincerely doubt that would be an area Iwould be moving towards
Look out Richard Branson there is a new über brand being launched.
from your lips to gods ears.
From a business approach, it would be really nice if Gotham Gym had some photos of their gym up. But they don’t. I also know the personal trainers at Gotham Gym don’t believe in foam rolling, Self-Myofascial release, there. In my humble opinion, that is an incredibly narrow-minded approach to dealing with the beginner to the advanced athlete training. What happened to avoiding overactive muscles. I have been a serious athlete for 10 yrs dealing with these personal trainers at Crunch, and all the while, suffered from exquisite chronic pain. Now that I have begun foam rolling, I have corrected my lumbar lordosis as best I can, and my chronic pain is finally dissipating. It makes me sad that all these devout followers of Gotham Gym and their wonderful training will be neglecting their chronic pain as long as I had.
My trainer at gotham gym does foam rolling with me so not so sure aboutthat. Speak with Rob Piela
how about “gotham goddesses”…. you know capitalizing on the whole Charlie Sheen phenom…. it would be fantastic… an agency repping skanky goddesses who do porn and hook up with coke addicted failing movie/tv stars….. what a market? the possibilities, ENDLESS…..
That’s hilarious
Love the space! I live nearby and do Tonique method with Sylwia and I might start boxing with Rob.
fantastic!
