Back in Berlin, day one
By the time we got to Berlin yesterday we were starving. We dropped off our bags with the front desk and went out in search of lunch. We all had a hankering for something really good and in particular we really wanted a sausage with kraut. Last time were in Berlin behind our hotel was an amazing holiday pop-up market with incredible sausages and needless to say that was not available yesterday. Instead that area was fenced off for a music concert and we could hear Scorpion practicing. A tad different.
In the end we opted for one of the cafes we knew nothing about. We have become so spoiled over the years because we do so much research for the best food that we have no interest in just walking into a random place hoping to fine something yummy. As Josh said, didn't you research this? The menu at this cafe did nothing for me so I opted for a simple salad. I will say that I liked the presentation.
I stopped by the Corner Store that has a great selection of clothes. Back to the hotel afterward for some rest and relaxation.
I met the boys in the lobby before our night out. Fred had a call so we all opted to have a drink before we went out. Nice start of the night.
We had Italian last night at Sale e Tabacchi. Delicious. Thinly sliced octopus carpacchio with a hint of dill and olive oil.
Salad of sliced octopus and celery. Classic Italian dish. Really well done.
This was the best appetizer of the group even though everything was good. Eggplant stuffed with Parmesan and roasted with just a little bit of red sauce over the top. Kind of like a deconstructed eggplant Parmesan. Wow. I might try this at home.
We split two pastas between the four of us. Bolognese. The picture says it all.
Olive oil and tiny mushrooms. I love those mushrooms.
Pounded veal sauteed with lots of herbs and truffle oil. Yum.
We hit the wall and dessert was not necessary. We walked back to our hotel and saw this gallery on the way. The question mark just caught my eye.
