Gary Danko
Our friend knows Gary so he made the reservation for us for dinner at Gary Danko. I went with it considering it was one more thing I didn't have to do. There are a bunch of different places in SF I would have preferred to check out but at the end of the day I knew we were coming off of four days of incredible food in Napa so what the hell. Bottom line, I just don't dig the fancy restaurants anymore. This particular restaurant could also take a lesson from Le Bernadin (where we are going to go to celebrate something in November even though I don't dig the fancy Le Bernadin is sublime) that has recently renovated. Gary Danko definitely has that 80s vibe going.
We started off with a tomato gazpacho.
They also brought this little bite out from the kitchen which was my favorite thing. A scooped out and roasted potato with salmon, creme fraiche and caviar. Just perfect.
For the appetizer I had a salad of roasted beets, goat cheese and proscuitto. Super salty.
Fred had the poached oysters with caviar which were really delicious.
For the main Fred had the branzino.
I had the roasted salmon with a horseradish bread thing on top. Really interesting and well prepared.

The food looks great!
Wow. Elitist much? Sorry you were so burdened with dinner at one if the Bay Area’s finest restaurants.
sorry to say that i’d rather have had a killer pizza at A16
That isn’t even the best pizza in SF. But you are missing the point anyway.
I really like the Birthday Plate you got
