celebrating mitzvahs
We spent Saturday going to our friends kids bar mitzvah. What we really did is spend the day with old friends.
The truth is, the thought of going to another bar mitzvah after doing the circuit with all three of our kids was so not something I wanted to do but sometimes you just have to do the right thing. I am really glad that we did.
Our friends at this event we have known now for almost 30 years. We have been at their weddings, we have seen their children grow, we we there when their children were born. Some of us have had to go through some very difficult times. Others have lost their parents. Through all of it, we have been at those events. Some events have been hard to get through while others have been celebratory.
Last night was a celebration. Being able to check in with old friends, catch up, laugh and dance made the whole day me remember how important it is to celebrate the mitzvahs in life.

Perfect message.I took my mom, turning 93, on a shopping spree at Eilleen Fisher’s the other day, then lunch at Isabella’s on Columbus.Watching the salespeople fuss over my mom and having her walk out with four new outfits, feeling cared for and looking good, was a great moment in time.That was a mitzvah for me. She was kvelling.
