Angels and the People Side

I did a fireside chat with Joaquin Roca.  It was a free-flowing conversation.  A good group of people too.  As always, I am probably more candid than I should be but what can I say.

“Don’t put your personal life on hold for your business life” <- I love that you think like this and state it publicly…more than anything else, I think this is *the* thing I see most of the women throughout my life struggle with

women have been doing both for years. it is never easy but you can’t stop one for the other.

Agree 1,000% … but it’s easier advice for a woman to accept from someone like you than someone like me (old white male)…so now I can point them in this direction! 😉

          that is beyond true.

Love this! One of the things I’ve tried very hard to change as a founder of a tech company is to say openly when I am leaving to go to a teacher conference or to take my child to an appointment. There is a double standard sometimes where men who say they are leaving early to attend their child’s school performance are viewed as a fantastic father, but when women say they are working from home because their child as sick, they are viewed as someone who isn’t committed to her career. Women can be committed and successful at being good at their career and being a mother, but it requires flexibility, a supportive environment, and women in leadership changing the status quo.

I totally agree. It is utterly ridiculous that women feel that they can not be honest about what they need to do in their personal life at the office. One thing has nothing to do with the other.

Yah, like men’s personal lives don’t affect their performance at work……heh.

          lol. exactly.
