Mario and Fred

We met Mario Batali years ago through the kids.  Josh and his son were friends.  I have always been a fan of his.  He loves life like no other, he is incredibly smart and he is a lot of fun to hang with.

When Mario asked Fred to be on his show Fred asked me what I thought.  I told him to go for it.  It will be fun.  Here is the show.  I throughly enjoyed it.  I plan on watching the rest of the series.  Good stuff.

Grr, not a fan of the ads. was a great interview.from Kingpin: Ernie McCracken: It all comes down to this roll. Roy Munson, a man-child, with a dream to topple bowling giant Ernie McCracken. If he strikes, he’s the 1979 Odor-Eaters Champion. He’s got one foot in the frying pan and one in the pressure cooker. Believe me, as a bowler, I know that right about now, your bladder feels like an overstuffed vacuum cleaner bag and your butt is kinda like an about-to-explode bratwurst.Roy: Hey. Do you mind? I wasn’t talking when you were bowling.Ernie McCracken: Was I talking out loud? Was I? Sorry. Good luck.

I had to turn on the US VPN to watch it from Canada. It’s only available in the US otherwise.

I think I read something about Batali’s new production studio (which did this video) having a partnership w/ Yahoo as apart of their entertainment media push.

Interesting. Indeed Yahoo is doing online video production/programming.

Next time Fred is feeling ambivalent about hanging out w/ Mario for a day, I’d be glad to lift that burden off his shoulders. 🙂

Love it.My Mario story: Back in the late 90’s, Mario’s dad opened a little italian salumeria around the corner from my office in Seattle. None of us had heard the name Batali yet, we just loved the old retired Boeing engineer and his wife with their cheap homemade salumi sandwiches and 50 cent cans of soda. The place has long since become famous, both due to the family connection and their fantastic cured meats and lunch lines out the door.

Mario carried his Dad’s meats for years at his places. Love that.
