Funding Hurricane Harvey
We put our monthly match on hold this summer. We are back and doing a matching campaign to help the people who are in need from Hurricane Harvey.
We have yet to pick where we want to target these funds but we are interested in helping immigrants who are in need.
I know first hand how the aftermath of a flood turns your entire life upside down living through Sandy and being displaced for four months. We were extremely lucky to have the funds to pick up the pieces. FEMA, who I learned from Sandy does not give the proper aid to insurance companies who are backed by them and is a sad display of support for those in need. Don’t get me started.
In the interim, before we target the funds to make sure they go to those in need, we donated to the GoFundMe Official Hurricane Harvey Relief Campaign.
If you would like to do the same, go here and make a donation.

Thank you for posting above. We clicked. We gave — mainly b/c we know you wouldn’t give unless you checked the org out!
Thank you! There was one organization that couldn’t guarantee that the funds would go to those in need. Obviously not the one we will pick.
I decided to fund animal rescue for this one as it is close to my heart.
I have a bunch of friends and family there. It’s where a lot of people ended up after Katrina and it is still where your friends move for a better job than they can find in New Orleans.I’ve been hearing good things about the Houston food bank. As to immigrant outreach in particular the Islamic society of greater Houston is doing boots on ground work right now. We are putting some cash towards diapers through my kid’s school.
