#BUILTBYGIRLS

What would the world look like if it was #BUILTBYGIRLS? Much of the world was built by girls although credit was not allowed and many did their thing to make change without every being acknowledged. Luckily that is changing.

#BUILTBYGIRLS is an incredible program started by the amazing Nisha Dua. They prepare the next generation of female leaders, builders, and creators to step boldly into careers powered by tech by providing high school and college women access to real Advisors, exclusive events at top tech companies, and no-fluff resources to help them explore and land their first internship or job. Their marquee program, WAVE, is a 1:1 Advisors program matching high school and college-aged young women with a professional in the tech industry – in just 2 years we’ve matched over 7,000 girls across 46 states and professionals from companies like Uber, Amazon, Twitter, Spotify, Verizon – and many top start-ups –  to talk about tech for over 12,000 hours of 1:1 time. Insanely impressive

For International Women’s Day, consider what the world would look like from Day 1 if it were #BUILTBYGIRLSA world where we get the whole damn dollar, where inclusion and diversity isn’t an afterthought, where women and underrepresented minorities don’t feel like imposters. What a concept!

I love what Nisha has built, the charge she has led with BBG Ventures and her co-investor Susan Lyne. The difference has been felt. We need more women doing this type of work so that equality is just part of our daily lives without having to fight for it.
