ArtLifting
I am a huge fan of ArtLifting. ArtLifting is a social enterprise that works with artists who are impacted by homeless or disabilities, giving them a platform to sell their work. They work with hospitals and shelters. ArtLifting sells artists’ original work, takes some of the work, and turns it into art prints and wall coverings. They have run a profitable business for the past few years. In full transparency, I am an investor.
Needless to say, the pandemic has been challenging for all of the artists. The joy for many has been that they have made enough money to move into their own places, put a roof over their heads and food on the table. I love the mission because ArtLifting has given all these people the ability to make money on their own talents, essentially giving them a pole, not a fish.
I got an update yesterday on the business and plan on buying an original piece of art to help an artist. Liz Powers, the brilliant warmhearted founder wrote:
We are at a critical stage of this pandemic; artists are concerned about paying rent, maintaining their health, and providing for their families. Transitions back to office environments have continued to delay pushing some of our core business revenue out. We have an opportunity to help close the gap and add predictability for our artists immediately. If we were to sell 200 original artworks in 90 days, as we wait for widespread vaccination, we could generate $1M in revenue. Therefore, we are requesting your immediate support by taking the following actions:
- Purchase an original artwork
- Refer three others to do the same
- Post your support of ArtLifting on LinkedIn or other forms of social media
- Introduce us to developers
We have been supporting the art world through the pandemic buying countless art pieces that go directly to funds that support artists. I plan on doing this too. Take a look and spread the word.
We might all be vaccinated in the months to come but what it looks like on the other side is still unclear. This is a wonderful organization that has lifted so many out of unlucky circumstances, and by supporting, you get a piece of art too!
