Heroin

NYC is humming with new restaurants, stores, and theaters, including music shows and more. One of the many things I love about Paris is that the Metro has long tunnels filled with cultural advertising, compared to 1-800-lawyer. I wish we did that even inside the subways.

The next mayoral election in NYC is in November 2025. We have a long way to go, and only a few have started to think about entering the race. I would expect to see many more.

The other night, I walked down a street between Houston and Bleecker east of Broadway and west of Layfayette. Usually, those streets are charming, but this one had a nasty edge, and that alone bummed me out. Then I notice a few down-and-out people lying on the ground, strung out, and one individual shooting up heroin. It sent goosebumps down my entire body. It took me back to the 80s when drug use on the street was rampant.

This is not okay. These people do not belong in jail, either. What is the answer to this? Where are the funds to help these individuals instead of the rest of us walking through their den of iniquity on the street?

NYC is the best, and honestly, we all deserve better than this.
