Il Portico in London
Last night was an exercise in insanity. I searched high and low for a million places to have dinner. You know you are in trouble when you are looking at the same place twice. I felt like I was going through my closet and trying all my clothes on and nothing worked. At the end of the day, I actually found a place that had a table. Il Portico. Not exactly near us but the oldest family run restaurant in London. I figured there was history and so we went. We like the tube.
The restaurant was like a NYC old upper east side Italian establishment where the locals eat dinner every night. A wonderful friendly staff. Decent food and over all just a nice vibe. No surprises, totally old school.
We had the anchovies of the night.
The mozzarella and prosciutto.
Lamb steak with wine and a side order of spinach. Emily wasn't feeling well so we brought her home an order of spaghetti with bolognese sauce.
Today, I stayed at home. I picked up some groceries to make dinner here. I went through my email box. I chilled. I also spent about 3 hours making reservations for dinners, writing down places that I want to go to while we are here, etc. Now I feel incredibly empowered. No more thinking, no more pinch hitting, just a vacation. Ahhhh….
