Paris

564668481400006f023cac76I can’t stop thinking about Paris as I am sure many others can’t either.  How could people have so much anger at the world to kill innocent people?  What happened that made people want to be a part of a terrorist group where their lives are so unhappy that becoming a human bomb and killing themselves doesn’t matter?  Where do we go from here?  How do we unite as a world to stop this?  As parents how can we feel safe for our families?

The questions are endless.  It is impossible to wrap my head around this.  My heart bleeds for every person who has been touched by this heinous crime.  I am at a loss as most of us are.

I felt the same way since last night. I just posted this on Facebook:Death in the name of any god turns into evil ideology, no matter the religion. We have seen this many times throughout the history of the world. We must unite, not just as a country, but as a world in the name of human rights which are beyond any one nation, any one religion.Recognizing the truth in what I said above is the easy part. Actually solving the issue is a whole other issue that is deeply complex and mind-boggling.The only thing I have seen so far since Paris that makes any sense to me is this – https://www.youtube.com/wat

These “people” are not people. Barbarians and worse.

Exactly.I can’t believe we can’t stop them online at least, because that’s how they recruit.

Europe was a place of religious wars and murderous misogyny centuries ago.Change will come when the US changes its policy towards those who rule in Saudi Arabia.

      Totally agree with you.

I was not a big fan of the wars either, or the creation of the Dept of Homeland Security…..

It always struck me as manifestly perverse that we fought two fruitless wars in Afghanistan and Iraq when the September 11 attacks were bankrolled by Saudi Arabia (if you can believe the US State Department) and 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis.

i share your view.the very very dark reality is that there are private networks of power in the US that more closely align themselves with the rulers of Saudi than with their fellow Americans. that is a form of treason. This short piece by Robert Fisk gives a more rounded view of events;http://www.independent.co.u…and this Wiki gives a broad context to the nature of the relationship between the French state and its large minority French Algerian population;https://en.wikipedia.org/wi

So, I know this is late, but I wrote a post this January on the rage that drives terrorism when Charlie Hebdo happened, and how being mindful of our own pain can maybe heal the hurts that ISIS is experiencing. The ridiculously, unbelievably painful reality is that ISIS members are very much a part of the human body that are screaming in pain, stretching imaginations around the world around what empathy for such disfunction could possibly look like. I believe an important component to dissolving ISIS (not the only one) is “being with” the rage in our own lives, allowing us to do some double duty in the healing department of said earthly body.http://rhodeandcompany.com/

A friend of mine started http://lightforparis.org/ – Do check it out and any charities you can connect to them would be awesome. She is building a community to help with the Paris rehab efforts.
