Can there be some happiness in the daily news?

imgresThere is a reason for the fear, anger and frustration in the world.  There is massive amount of news coming at us 24/7 and nothing is good.  I completely admit that I check my twitter feed a few times a day to find out what is happening in the world and the majority of the time it is utterly depressing.

Does human nature pull us into the news where nothing good is being reporter? I’d love to read a few feel good pieces a day.  Here are a few I’d love to see more of.  “Young woman becomes number one Girl Scout cookie sales person and sets up a foundation to focus on food safety”.  “Local assisted living housing is given tax breaks to open nursery schools in every facility across the country to create happiness environments for the aging and the youth.”  “Term limits are passed for every elected official and they no longer have to spent 80% of their time raising money to stay in power”.

I will think of a few others but it really would be a pleasant surprise to see more being reported on the every day good deeds that take place around the globe vs focusing on doom and gloom.  Just saying…

Now, see, Twitter is where I’m actually able to find the good news because people in my feed share it. The mass media have no interest in sharing good news. I certainly don’t follow any big media on Twitter. That seems to defeat the purpose to me. I’m much more interested in meeting people I’d otherwise never get to meet.

http://www.theoptimist.com/ I found The Optimist a couple of years ago. While it is a little more liberal than I usually tend to gravitate towards, it certainly holds true to it’s name! I love it!

Hell, fire, and damnation. It’s worked for thousands of years as a psychological technique to keep the masses in fear and under control. I stopped consuming mass media content a couple of months ago as an experiment.
