Imagine
I got up the Sunday after Xmas and had the house to myself. Everyone was sleeping and Fred was out getting breakfast goodies. I put on John Lennon’s Imagine.
Imagine there’s no heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today
Imagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people living life in peace, you
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people sharing all the world, you
You may say I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope some day you’ll join us
And the world will be as one
After this year, I needed to hear the song.
The constant anger frustration and spitefulness over power of the last four years has left me sapped. The slew of false narratives has been infuriating. This has been top of mind daily.
Maybe it came to me after watching the movie Soul that is uplifting with a good message. How do we live our lives to the fullest and appreciate what we have. To have a soul.
2021 is around the corner and it’s up to all of us to say enough is enough. We don’t want to live in a world of anger where there is no empathy toward others. Can we just try and imagine a place where we can agree to disagree, where in each of our own ways we help each other.
When this pandemic is over we need to take a deep look at a future where anger and selfishness over power begins to wane.
