Saveur 100

Images-1 I am a little late to the party on the Saveur 100.  I didn't receive mine this year and ended up picking it up at the magazine shop today.  It is hands down one of my favorite editions of the year.

This year, the magazine's top 100 are all from user generated content.  Very clever.  There a definitely a couple of items in the magazine that I use and love too.  It makes you realize how far the food industry has come over the past 30 years.  Each entry that ended up on the top 100 is obviously passionate about food like I am.  Love that.

My kitchen has grown over the years.  Every time I make a new dish, I might pick up another serving piece.  If I am making something that needs a different ingredient, then that ends up in the pantry too.  I am always looking for another new product to try out.  If it is a winner, I will go back and buy the product in 2's or sometimes 3's depending.  I try to always have a back up so I don't have to rush out to get something if I am in the mood to make something.  Truth is, I keep backups of everything from toilet paper to paper towels to shampoo to toothbrushes and soap.  Someone could come over and do a little shopping from my cabinets.

This year, I am ordering a few new products based on the list from Saveur.  Pernigotti Cocoa Powder and Flour Sack Towels ( although I might have already used these before ).  There are some good recipes too.  An issue absolutely worth picking up.

My favorite issue of the year. I thought this year’s products were more interesting than the recipes, but last year’s issue was my source for making some really tasty homemade ketchup, mustard, worcestershire, hot sauce, and harissa!

Haven’t checked my issue of Saveur yet, but I’ve been using Pernigotti Cocoa Powder for 8 years, having bought it at Williams-Sonoma. However, they don’t seem to be carrying it anymore. They are currently selling their own brand of cocoa powder. I see that chefshop.com directly or through Amazon is carrying it in 2lb. bags. I used to buy it in cans in smaller quantities, and buy 6 at a time! I adore it.
