Tacos trucks are the call
Before taking off for the holidays we went to see Uncut Gems at the time we would see a flick in NYC, 730pm. Usually grabbing dinner and a drink after to discuss the film. Ends up not to be such a good idea in Venice.
By the time the film ended (these days the previews are easily 15 minutes) and we got back from Century City to Venice it was 1030 before we sat down at American Beauty. I made sure to check out late they were open online. Answer: midnight.
We got to the bar, sat down, ordered a drink and asked about dinner. The kitchen had already closed. People here got to be early and get up early vs NYC where people get up early and still stay out late.
So what is open in Venice for food at 11pm? The taco truck in front of the Whole Foods parking lot. These trucks are everywhere at night. Smart entrepreneurs. Hungry people still need food and it is an urban area.
Taco Chidos is putting out some fantastic tacos. All they have is pork. It is juicy, smokey, soft with tiny pieces of skin. On the side is the taco bar where you can decide what to add from chopped cilantro, sliced radishes, onions, jalapenos, and hot sauces.
It still feels good to be up late particularly when the best food around is the taco truck….even in the day time.

Felt very anxious through the film but in hindsight I keep thinking about it. Kinda genius
yeah, same here. it seemed all over the place in the first 10 mins then we settled into it. the ending was a bit unexpected kind of.
That was my question. And agree, was not digging the film during, but after really liked it. Same with Parasite.

So true!! We just had New Yorkers over last evening…Californians get up early & to bed early! Active lifestyle a reason? Maybe…
In NYC people get up and drink coffee all day and then switch to the evening and drink to take them down from the coffee and go home late and start all over againIn LA people get up early and have juices and healthy food all day and go to sleep early to go it againVery different way of life
