Bad City, Peril and Power in the City of Los Angeles – Once again, this book provides the importance of investigative journalism. The corruption at USC is mind-blowing and continued for years until someone poked around.

The Family Chao – Family drama around murder, mystery and immigration. Fun read.

My Government Wants To Kill Me – I could not put this book down. An incredible history of New York City in the 80s during the destructive era of AIDS. A young gay man comes of age in NYC as a person and political activist.

Trust – A great story and commentary on generational wealth.  The structure of the book is brilliant.  Great twist at the end.  Excellent book.

Inferno: A Memoir of Motherhood and Madness – Another topic we rarely discuss…the harsh reality of postpartum psychosis. It happens. An incredible memoir.

Four Treasures of the Sky – Incredible historical fiction book set in the 19th century around the Chinese Expulsion Act.  A grim reminder of America’s past.

Tastes Like War – An incredible memoir understanding the long-lasting horrors of immigration life that people are finally talking about as their children look through the lens of their parent’s life. Powerful read.

The Last White Man – I enjoyed Mohsin Hamid’s book Exit West, so I was looking forward to reading The Last White Man. This book is more of a one-dimensional concept intertwined with family. Conceptually an interesting idea and left me wanting much more.

Mouth to Mouth – A slow and then fast pace into the art world.  Great summer read!

Remarkably Bright Creatures – Remarkably Bright Creatures is about love, love lost, loneliness, friendship, and a particular friendship with an octopus. Another summer win.

The It Girl – Great murder mystery centered in Oxford. Stayed up super late to finish!
